Our History

In 1982 a small group of Christians began meeting at Odd Fellows Hall in the Arden area to consider forming a confessionally Reformed and Baptist church in Sacramento. On July 29, 1984, membership was formalized under the name Sovereign Grace Church.

After enjoying steady numerical growth, the church changed its name to Immanuel Baptist Church and purchased its present mid-town building in the early 1990s.

In 2016, IBC purchased a second building at 2418 O Street. This space contains our staff offices and pastoral studies while providing more space for children’s classes, youth, and young adults’ ministry.

We rejoice that God has sustained us as a community of believers.
